The first benchmarks for AMD’s new APUS are available.  This new technology combines multiple logical CPU cores and a GPU core onto a single dye, and keeps the max thermal envelope under 100 watts!

Be sure to keep an eye on this new technology, as manufacturing processes continue to scale to smaller and smaller levels, allowing more transistors in a smaller dye.

While the performance of these chips is surpassed by discrete graphics cards,  one can crossfire the integrated graphics chip with a discrete graphics card. These chips also enable casual to moderate gaming without the immediate need for a discrete graphics card, and offer an inexpensive way to enter the modern personal computer market.
