The video files are perfect for very easy editing; there is no haste like the quick time formats which are of poor quality and not as easy to edit.
It has an 8m pixel sensor, which is very high quality for a web cam in this price range. It also has digital zoom, though we are not exactly sure if it crops the picture down or actually uses digital zooming while recording.
You can record in a number of different resolution sizes, in widescreen or standard formats.
The Logitech C510 has a variable bit rate.. from what we’ve seen it’s between 30mb and 70 MB a minute. The web cam adapts to whatever is needed instead of on steady bit rate. Generally, darker pixels produce smaller file sizes, and its nice to see that the camera isn’t limited to one single large standard bit rate.
There are a Few complaints with the Logitech C510, however. The stand is a flap that simply rests on top of the monitor a slight bump will send it to the mercy of gravity. Also the cord is about 3.5-4 feet. A longer cord would be beneficial for those who have their desktop positioned far from their monitor. The length of the cord also limits creativity with tripods and whatnot.
Full 1080 P version of the web cam wasn’t necessary for our applications because full 1080P uses very high file sizes, and we already have a DSLR to suit that need.
This is a perfect web cam for Youtube. Youtube automatically scales down videos, so this web cam will produce a higher quality output than what Youtube will allow in most cases. There is a recording option that allows for640 360P which is perfect for most Youtube videos which don’t require high definition and the large file sizes associated with it when taking into consideration when time is a factor in uploading the finished video.
The Logitech C510 has manual control over all settings such as white balance, exposure, gain, brightness, and color intensity.
It is always best to use manual controls to prevent dynamic changes in the rest of the image. If a much brighter object comes into the focus of the camera, the rest of the the image will darken, and the video will look less professional. To circumvent this problem, use a white sheet of paper to manually adjust the white balance.

The exposure controls the length of the shutter time. If you have it set really high, it will produce more motion blur.
Gain controls the sensitivity of the sensor; too high gain induces noise. Set the gain as low as possible, and the exposure to the point where you get the best fluid motion. Good lighting controls the overall video quality in any situation.
The Logitech C510 web cam will save time over a professional high def camera when recording quick in home videos.
