Verizon LG Extravert Camera Test

How good is the LG Extravert’s camera?

Recently I picked up a Verizon LG extravert from Best Buy for around $100; the $50/month unlimited plan with no contract was quite appealing, and since few other carriers in the area have decent coverage here, I decided to jump into it.

You get what you pay for, and considering it is a pre-paid phone with no contract don’t expect much.

Some quick features of the Verizon LG Extravert

  • The Verizon LG Extravert has a “fully functional” opera-based web browser.  However, many websites have compatibility issues.
  • Full social media integration
  • Full email capabilities
  • Available $50/month no contract unlimited plan (does not include VZ Navigator- which is a joke anyway)
  • Touch screen + traditional keyboard

Overall Cons:

  • NO *FUNCTIONAL* GPS despite Verizon’s website and other reviews. This unit does NOT have a functional GPS app, or one available. However,  you can toggle between GPS location and 911.
  • Poor quality camera for this day in age. A slightly better camera would have hit Verizon’s bottom line as hard as the one it has in it.
  • Difficult to find a sleeve or “glove” for slide phones.

Camera Verdict:

If you plan on taking videos with your mobile phone, you’re pretty much left with a potato with the Verizon LG Extravert.  Yes, it record videos.. but don’t expect to use it for anything important.

You would think they could have done better than 2MP stills  and a max recording resolution grater than 320*240, but alas that is not the case.

With good enough lighting and little or no wind, the camera should hold its own for basic stuff, but you wont be filming any alien craft off in the distance with the Verizon LG Extravert.
