My Windows XP SP2 does not install usb device drivers automatically.

Originally published October 14, 2011

Q

Whenever I plug in any USB device, I have to open device manager and need to manually update USB device driver (it has a yellow question mark). Thanks in advance for help to solve my problem.

A

Reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers for your computer. Use this page to find Speccy which will find the correct model numbers, and in turn find the right driver download for your motherboard.
